Meet Ashkea!!



Ashkea is an attorney in the Washington, DC area. We attended the same law school, but she was two years behind me so we didn't really have a lot of interactions since I was working most of my last year. However, we keep up with each other through facebook and usually get a kick out of what the other is doing, posting or ranting and raving about. Ashkea has lived in several states in the US, but has made DC home for the last couple of years.

 The day Ashkea came for her session I was in a photography rut, however her happy disposition and open mind helped me to cheer up. I had gone out earlier scouting some new areas to shoot and luckily found some good ones including an overpass bridge for the beltway. When she first arrived I asked her if she was interested in being adventurous with me and she did not hesitate. After showing me her white dress I knew the set I found would be perfect to create the juxtaposition I was going for. I thought the photos turned out great and really showed her fun and sometimes serious disposition. 

1. When do you feel the most beautiful?

I feel the most beautiful when my hair is big, curly, and blowing in the wind; and it’s a bonus if all of that is happening while I’m walking toward my husband’s car in the Metro parking lot and he’s blasting D’Angelo’s “Lady.”

2. What does being fearless mean to you?

Honestly, I don’t know the feeling because I tend to be scared of everything!  However, I know that courage is the decision and ability to face one’s fears, so in many instances I know that I’ve been very courageous.



3. What was the biggest turning point in your life?

The biggest turning point in my life is right now.  I’m trying to figure out who I am and what I want, and I’m learning to own and articulate who I am and what I want.  It’s hard sometimes, but it’s worth it.



4. What is a goal that you have been working on?

Right now, I’m renovating what was an unfinished room in my basement.

I am a woman who is growing by deliberately and intentionally investing my time and resources in thoughts and activities that improve my well-being.
