It’s engagement season!! This means that wedding season and bridal boudoir season is just around the corner. And we LOVE bridal boudoir!!

Here are 5 tips for having an awesome bridal boudoir session.

1. Choose the Right Photographer for You.

Check out their website, Instagram and Facebook pages to make sure you love their work! This is a big investment and you want both you and your significant other to be happy with the results. Ask questions before and after you book your session so you are comfortable with the photographer before the photo session. Knowing the work the photographer produces and how your personalities mesh plays an important role to you being comfortable enough to take awesome boudoir photos.

Tip #2: Bring Multiple Outfits.

You can’t go wrong with options. While every one of my clients goes over their outfit choices during the pre-shoot consultation, it never fails that they bring a piece that they liked before, but not on the day of the shoot. When this happens it’s no sweat because I’ve told them to bring a few just in case selections.

Bring something you love, something your significant other loves, things that accentuate your best assets, something out of your comfort zone and something safe. Having different pieces also let’s you change the mood of a photo and gives them a variety of photos to choose from during their reveal session.

Tip #3: Find Ways to Incorporate your Significant Other into the Photo Shoot.

Since you are giving these photos as a gift, there’s no better way to make the photos personalized than something significant to you both.

The options are endless from the pearl necklace they gave you, a jersey from their favorite sports team, favorite t-shirt or watch, or even hobbies such as comics or cooking. These special touches make your significant other know you had them in mind during the shoot.

Tip #4: Have Your Makeup Done by a Professional.

Makeup from a professional artist is included in every single one of my sessions. Why? Custom photography is an investment and your photos will be around longer than you or I, so you want to look and feel your best. Makeup is NOT my gift, but I work with artists that are definitely gifted. Having your makeup done also ensures that you feel pampered and beautiful before your photo session. After your session, you will be ready for date night, a night on the town or even your bachelorette party.

If your photographer doesn’t provide a makeup artist for your shoot, do some research and find a great one. You’ll be happy you did!

Tip #5 (Most Important): Have Fun and Enjoy the Experience!!

As with all things, you get what you put out and nothing is more true for photos. A picture is truly worth a thousand words. The more relaxed you are, the more fun you have, the better the photos. My personal goal for every single boudoir client is to make her laugh and capture it. These are the photos that show a person’s joy and when I personally think she’s most beautiful.

Majority of my clients are busy professionals women with demanding careers, family life, and personal tasks. So a boudoir shoot is the perfect escape to pamper and spoil yourself. It’s the perfect time to be selfish and  get back to how you define yourself as a woman. Truly enjoy the experience and see how it transforms you.
